Illustrated Notes on the Entomological Trips to various Provinces of
East Turkey - II. Kop Dagi and Vauk Dagi
(Erzurum and Gumu§hane Provinces)
Muhabbet Kemal Ahmet Omer Ko^ak
During the recent entomological trip made by the authors on 23rd June,20o8S the Kop
Dagi Pass (A§kale, Erzurum Province) and Vauk Dagi Pass (Gumu§hane Province), were partly
evaluated from entomological stand point. The photographs^ and video records were taken by the
first author for the archive of the Cesa. All the specimens collected by the authors are preserved in
the Cesa Collection. Collecting information will be published separately.
In this part of the series, the diurnal lepidopteran species, as well as some other insect
groups, inhabiting in the Kop Dagi Pass in the District of A§kale (Erzurum Prov.), and in the Vauk
Dagi Pass (Gumu§hane Prov.) were studied by the authors (Map 1). In the morning hours, two
different localities on the South-East slopes of the Kop Dagi Pass were selected. First locality
[Bozburuni] was an opening of Oak woodland at 1960m (Fig.i), above Bozburun village, and the
second one [Bozburun2] is a degraded grassland with scarce Rosa bushes and higher at an
elevation of 2330m (Map 2) (Fig. 2).

Turkey I. Tahir Pass (Agri Province). Cesa News 24: 1-12, 1 map, 20 figs.
2 During last trip, more than 2843 images were taken by the first author for the Cesa Archive. Total digital images of insects, other
animals, and plants taken by the authors from Turkey and abroad, preserved in the Cesa Archive, is more than 83100.
